Postcard from Belize: Jesus Christ Bird on The New River

The ride along the New River in northern Belize, on the way to visit the Maya site of Lamanai, is one of my favorite experiences because of all the amazing wildlife along the way. Birds, iguanas, crocodiles and maybe even howler monkeys if you’re lucky.

Belizeans call this one above, the Jesus Christ bird. I’ll let you guess why!
