I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to this new decade. It feels full of possibilities, doesn’t it? I’m finally back on the blog after a super busy month of December and January, which I’ve been spending in Washington DC visiting my parents. I wasn’t made for this cold weather, y’all—I was sick as soon as I landed.
But I am getting back on my feet—though the work never stopped, from my couch—and writing this update so you can read, listen, and follow my latest projects and upcoming, exciting developments. I share these posts, by the way, to inspire, and not to boast—whether you’re looking for travel inspiration this year, or you’re an aspiring travel writer and photographer on your own adventurous journey.
1. CBS Eye on Travel with Peter Greenberg
The first week of January, I received an invitation to be interviewed by CBS Travel Editor Peter Greenberg, live in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, for his Eye on Travel weekly radio show. Every week, he records it from a different location around the world. I’m grateful to the Puntacana Resort & Club and the Punta Cana Group for recommending me and my work to Greenberg. They’ve been following me since my viral post on the Dominican Republic during last year’s major media circus about Punta Cana.
This episode of Eye on Travel will stream live on Saturday, January 25 from 10am to 1pm. I can’t wait to listen to it myself. I’ll update this post with the link to stream the episode live as soon as they share it on the website, usually 24 hours prior.
2. Word Nomads: Caribbean Guide + Podcast
In late 2019, I had the wonderful opportunity of writing for World Nomads, one of my favorite brands. They were producing a free Caribbean guide for their readers, and I contributed two articles, on Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Enter your email to receive a complimentary copy of “Caribbean: Where Nomads Go” in your inbox—well worth the amazing cultural and adventure stories from around the Caribbean that will inspire your next trip.
In addition to the articles, I was asked to be a guest on their corresponding World Nomads Podcast: The Caribbean episode. I got to talk some more about the places I wrote about: Puerto Rico, and the DR. Take a listen below; my interview starts at 27:42.
3. Articles + Publications
I’ve welcomed new writing clients, with whom I continue working at the present, including American Airlines Vacations.
Below are a few of my latest articles, photography and publications, in case you missed seeing my posts on Facebook or Instagram.

I’m also looking forward to three upcoming print stories so far for 2020, including in Sierra Magazine, one of my dream pubs, and ZiNG, LIAT Caribbean airline’s in-flight. I’ll share release updates on Facebook and Instagram.
Just a couple of months ago, my latest editions of Moon Belize and Moon Dominican Republic were released. You can find them in bookstores in the United States, or online through your favorite bookseller.
5. Destination Belize 2020-2021
I’ve rejoined Destination Belize magazine as Editor in Chief. I’m thrilled to have been contracted again by the Belize Tourism Industry Association to lead and work on Belize’s #1 tourism magazine, distributed in thousands of hotel rooms across Belize, as well as internationally at major trade shows and consulates.
We have the same great team as the last edition. I’m excited, too, about our sustainable tourism focus for the 2020-2021 edition, and this slogan I came up with to coin our theme:
It’s going to be incredible content, unlike any you’ve read about Belize, which recently announced reaching a milestone of 500,000 visitors in 2019.
6. A new book in 2020
That’s right! I’ve been working on a new, travel nonfiction book. I can’t wait to share officially what it’s about, but I will say that it’s going to be useful for your future travel planning. I’m about 90 percent through the first draft and plan to self-publish it this year. I’ll have an update again in April.
7. Upcoming Travels + Blogs + Vlogs
I’m excited to head to New York City next week for IMM TravMedia—I’ve been invited to attend this invitation-only two-day event, which includes a full day of one-on-one appointments with travel brands and destinations. I also have an exciting confirmed 11-day work trip in February to a new-to-me destination. I can’t spill the beans just yet, so you’ll have to hang on for a few more weeks.
In the meantime, I’m working on an upcoming post to finally tell you all about that once-in-a-lifetime chartered yacht trip around the US and British Virgin Islands this past December and how you too, can experience it.
For now, if you missed it, here’s my post packed with tips on how you can travel more sustainably this year, to the Caribbean and beyond.
Do you have any questions about your upcoming travels this year? Perhaps you have special requests for the blog, or simply want to gush! Leave it all below or email me. I love hearing from my readers.
