The Passport Party Project is in Belize

Back in March, I told you about the wonderful Passport Party Project, created by friend, fellow writer and traveler, Tracey Friley.  I shared my live welcome, recorded while on Caye Caulker, for seven lucky girls who would win the Expedia-sponsored contest: an all expenses paid trip to Belize.

Four months have passed and they’ve made it to Belize!

They arrived this week in San Pedro, and have already traveled to various parts of the country –  cave tubing, ziplining, sampling stew chicken and exploring Mayan sites.  Along with Tracey, the girls are traveling with a parent or guardian.

First passports – first stamp – first trip overseas – first time in Belize. Looking at their smiles, I’m pretty sure they’ve caught the >> travel bug!

As part of their visit, the girls will deliver three suitcases filled with donations and volunteer at Liberty Children’s Home.

Congratulations to them for taking that first trip abroad, to their parents for encouraging their kids to pursue their dreams, and last but not least, to Tracey Friley giving them that opportunity.

Just a few weeks ago, Tracey informed me that each girl would also receive a copy of my upcoming first edition of Moon Belize. How sweet is that?

I only wish I were there to say “Welcome to Belize” in person.
