Postcard of the Week: Happy Easter from the Dominican Republic

Happy belated Easter to all who celebrated! It’s been a few weeks since my last blog update. I’ve been one busy bee, traveling from Belize all the way to the Dominican Republic, where I will be based for my next project: authoring a first edition of Moon Dominican Republic for Moon Travel Guides, scheduled for release in bookstores in Fall 2016.

This is going to be my third guidebook, and when I say first edition, I mean just that: I am writing all of the content from scratch from the beginning, rather than rewriting and modifying the majority of a previous manuscript. I have a lot of work ahead of me, but it’s an exciting opportunity and challenge.

Postcard: Portraits of Belize Tour Guides

Over the next few days, as I finally wrap up my second edition of Moon Belize (hurrah! due out November 2015), I thought I would share images captured along my latest travels around Belize, since September, that somehow never made the blog.

One such series of photos are portraits of some of my favorite local tour guides. They are, in my humble opinion, the unsung heroes of Belize’s tourism industry. They keep me abreast of the latest in their areas every year and help me complete my research while making it fun in the process. And many times, behind the scenes, they’re carrying my bags while I shoot, hike, snorkel, take notes, and completing a dozen other tasks.
