Jamaica Roadtrip! And Publication News
It’s been a long week offline! But an inspiring one. No internet, no i-Phone, no Facebook. Just me, my lenses, a good friend who is also a shutterbug (and was our designated driver), and the nature all around us: a roadtrip from the west coast of Jamaica all along the north coast, onto eastern Jamaica, and finally onto the Blue Mountains and Kingston. It was a photo feast and a wonderful “early” birthday treat to myself.
Stay tuned for trip highlights and stories starting tomorrow, while I process the more than 2,000 photos!
In the meantime…

Postcard Of The Week: Under The Kindah Tree in Accompong Town, Jamaica
A memorable day last week: January 6, day of the annual Maroon celebrations in Accompong Town, Jamaica. This is Mike Robinson of the newly launched Jamaicapedia – a college friend I had not seen in 12 years – sitting under the Kindah Tree (Kindah stands for “Family”), where the drumming and singing takes place and also a sacred Maroon site. A great day all around. *Stay tuned for a full photo essay on Maroon Day.*
